While You've Come This Way…

The city of Sinaia is an outdoor sports paradise. There are wonderful cycling and trekking routes. It is possible to take a few days' routes with accommodation in the cabins (pension) on the mountain. If you can spare the time, don't miss it.

Also, Sinai is a very good place to spend the night. There are many accommodation and restaurant options available. Especially on the hills, there are very sweet places run by the hostel owners. But a car is required to get there. If you don't have a car, it's not a problem, there are plenty of options in the center.

Peles Castle was built by Carol, the first king of Romania, in the Prahova Valley, at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains. First Carol saw this region and was amazed by its beauty and had Peles Castle built for herself as a summer residence.

The castle was built on the passageway connecting Transylvania (named Erdel in Ottoman Empire) and Wallacia (named Wallachia in Ottoman Empire).

400 masters and thousands of workers worked for the castle, the construction of which began in 1875. But King Carol died in 1914, a few months before it was completed, before he could see the final version of the castle.

Queen Elisabeta herself directed the interior decoration.

There are many secret gates and passages in the castle, whose walls are decorated with original Gustav Klimt paintings.

With carved inlaid wooden ceilings, fairy-tale halls, and gilded walls, it's not at all like other dreary Dracula castles in Transylvania. The Neo-Renaissance style castle was the first castle in Europe to have central heating, electricity and vacuuming system. During the Ceausescu period, the castle's 160 rooms became the personal resting place of the country's leading communists and important statesmen from all over the world. During this period, the entire region, including the castle, was closed to the public. Military martial law began in the surrounding area.

Many famous names from Nixon to Ford, from Gaddafi to Arafat were hosted here.

The castle, which was a museum during the communist regime, was later reopened to the public.
